The Mulrenin-Couch Combo Celtics-Hawks Series BlogWith their 99-65 rout of the eight-seed Atlanta Hawks on Sunday afternoon, the top-seeded Boston Celtics improved their franchise record in Game 7s to 18-5 all-time, and 15-3 at home. Paul Pierce scored a game-high 22 points as the Celtics stayed in control most of the game; Boston led by 18 points at halftime, and by 36 at the end of three quarters.
Kevin Garnett added 18 points and 11 rebounds in the win, while Kendrick Perkins finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Joe Johnson scored 16 points to lead his team, but was one of just two Hawks in double figures.
Though the Celtics were favored heavily coming into the series, the Hawks went undefeated at home to force an unforeseen seventh game. Unfortunately for Atlanta, Boston went undefeated at home, too.
Next up for the Celtics are the Cleveland Cavaliers, who beat the Washington Wizards in six games to advance to the second round.
