November 22, 2011 KNBR To Broadcast Dakota Wizards Game This Saturday, November 26 Warriors Flagship Radio Station To Air Opening Weekend Contest Of Team’s D-League Affiliate
Saturday's D-League match-up between the Dakota Wizards and Los Angeles D-Fenders can be heard on KNBR 680 AM.
KNBR 680 AM, the flagship radio station of the Golden State Warriors, will broadcast an NBA Development League game between the Dakota Wizards and the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Saturday, November 26, at 5:00 p.m., the team announced today. The game is part of the NBA Development League’s opening weekend, as the league tips off its 2011-12 schedule the previous evening.
Tim Roye, the Warriors’ radio announcer for the last 15 seasons, will provide play-by-play for the contest, which will be played at the Bismarck (ND) Civic Center Arena.
On June 28, 2011, the Golden State Warriors purchased the Dakota Wizards, forming a one-to-one affiliate relationship between the two clubs. The Warriors are currently one of five teams in the NBA to own and operate their own D-League affiliate. Under NBA and D-League rules, the Warriors have the ability to build and determine their own roster for the Wizards, but do not have the rights to the Dakota players unless the team signs a specific player to an NBA contract.
KNBR has served as the Warriors flagship radio station for 35 years. “The Sports Leader” first aired Warriors games on KNBR during the 1976-77 season and, with the exception of the 1983-84 campaign, have carried the team’s games ever since.
